To help you avoid bumping in to every tree, car and curb on your travels this winter there are a few things you should be aware of and make sure you do before you head out.
Staying Safe on Winter Roads
Better to be safe, than sorry!
If you follow these few tips you will have less to worry about, however there will always be careless drivers you will have to look out for.
1) The most important thing you should always do, every year when winter comes around is replace your current tyres with winter tyres.
No matter how good you think your normal tyres are, winter tyres deal with snow and icy roads much better. Any repair garage or Mot centre will sell these and will most likely fit them for you. It is also advisable to purchase a spare tyre just in case.
2) Clean out and flush your cooling system and add some new antifreeze. You may need a mechanic to do this for you.
3) Replacing your wiper blades every six months. For winter consider buying winter blades and cold weather windscreen wash. Wipers can easily freeze.
4) Finally the most important part, your brakes. Get these checked before the snow starts to fall, most accidents are coursed by people not being able to brake in time due to their brakes being in poor condition.
